Jeffrey starts speaking calmly about things like probate but Stede can’t hear him because there’s a sort of buzzing noise filling his ears. It’s not until Stede hears the phrase disclaim the inheritance that he can seize on those words, a comprehensible life raft in the sea of legalese. ”So you mean one of us can refuse? Ed can refuse?” Stede asks, because of course, Sally was his aunt. She had saved his life, practically. He cannot refuse, but he can’t control whether Ed refuses.

Hey! So I wrote a follow-up to my Ruin the Friendship fic, because the ending has been sitting heavy with me for a while now lol. So, I wrote a fix-it fic! If you'd like to read it, I'm starting posting it! It's 7 chapters, and the entire thing is already written (a little under 15,000 words total).

His hands shake as he wrings them together, head dropped down to rest on his knees. "My name is Edward Teach. My home is District 1. I was in the Hunger Games. I escaped. Stede... Stede was left behind-" Ed chokes on a sob. The thought of Stede right now makes him sick to his stomach. Wondering where he could possibly be, if he's okay, if he's being taken care of. If he's even still alive.
