XM575 - delivered to the RAF in 63. It entered service with 617 Sqn and went on to serve with the Scampton & Waddington Wings, 101, 50, and 44 Sqns.

It took part in the Falklands victory flypast over London in Oct 82 and retired in 83.

Its now at East Mids Airport.

A nighttime drone strike hit the Zuevska and Starobesheve thermal power plants in the Russian-occupied Donetsk region. The FP-2 guided strike drones were used.

For #TyphoonTuesday, here is F/L Lyall Shaver, 439 Squadron RCAF, showing off the chunk of the first Me262 shot down by a Typhoon (on 14 Feb 1945) that lodged in the wing of MN144 to S/L James Beatty and F/O Hugh Fraser, who shot down a 2nd Me262 that morning.

#TDIH - November 18, 1978 - First flight of the McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) F/A-18 Hornet. In 1980, the F/A-18 was selected as the winner of the New Fighter Aircraft Project competition, and a production order was awarded. The Canadian Forces began receiving the CF-18 in 1982.

Hubble has returned to the ‘Lost Galaxy’, a spiral galaxy about 50 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.

Its nickname comes from the fact that it’s extremely faint when viewed through a small telescope. Not the case for Hubble though!
