During the government shutdown, I wanted to make sure I connected with as many of the people I represent as possible. Earlier this week, before being called back to D.C. for votes, I traveled to Clovis to listen directly to constituents and learn more about the issues impacting their community.

We told New Mexicans we would stand up for them, and that’s exactly what we’ve done. New Mexicans won’t go hungry while Republicans in Washington, D.C. manufacture crisis after crisis.

Thank you to the Roswell Daily Record and reporter Melanie Becker-Donovan for covering our event! Grateful to Jess James, Jeneva Jewel Martinez, and Ann at Stellar Coffee Co. for hosting, and Caribbean LaKay for the amazing food. Appreciate everyone who made it a success!

The Trump Administration is gutting Medicaid and undermining the healthcare our families rely on. That’s why NM is fighting for stronger rural healthcare, because we can’t afford more cuts. I’m committed to defending the care every New Mexican depends on.

Don't believe their lies — this is about making it more difficult for hardworking people to feed their families. Once again: the cruelty is the point.

Someone asked me: “If you were Governor right now, what could you do to reopen the government?” Here’s how I’d approach it both practically and strategically. 🧵(1/7)

UPDATE: Since this has been posted SCOTUS has issued a stay meaning for now, the Trump administration is NOT required to fully fund SNAP benefits.
#NMAG Torrez has been battling with a multistate coalition to reinstate SNAP benefits for New Mexicans - NOW. A federal judge in Rhode Island has ruled that SNAP benefits must be FULLY funded nationwide starting TODAY.

Deb Haaland is one of three candidates for the Democratic nomination for Governor.
This is the longest government shutdown in history forcing New Mexicans to file for unemployment. Trump and Republican leaders are failing our families. It’s time to end this and stop holding food and healthcare hostage.

Over 900 unemployment claims filed by federal New Mexico workers since shutdown began
Workers from Holloman, Cannon and Kirtland Air Force bases, the USDA and the Interior Department are among the most impacted.

Steve Pearce's record makes it crystal clear that he is the wrong choice for Bureau of Land Management. We urge all members of Congress to reject his nomination.

Juan de Jesús Sánchez is one of three candidates for the Democratic nomination for NM Land Commissioner.
Steve Pearce is a dangerous choice to run the Bureau of Land Management. He was part of the “Anti-Parks Caucus” in Congress, tried to weaken the Antiquities Act, make it easier to sell public lands, and even opposed National Park designation in his own district.
