ICE detain father shopping on Christmas Eve—then steal his family's groceries.

Then 3 agents divvy up his paid for food—taking what they want for themselves.

"Can I just get the wife's number to call and let her know?" woman asks.

"No, guess he should've complied," agent says.

Little bit worried that Santa is going to end up in a detention centre in Louisiana.
Trump: We track Santa. We want to make sure that Santa is being good. We want to make sure that he's not infiltrated, that we're not infiltrating into our country a bad Santa. Santa loves Oklahoma like I do. You know, Oklahoma was very good to me in the election

Day 24 of Coastal Lexicon Advent Calendar is 'tide' 👇

Fun fact. In the UK :

"Four in ten people in our survey were unaware that tides come in twice daily, that they vary in timing each day, and that they differ in height across the country" 🤷‍♂️

Social media platforms are wired to promote bullshit.

And now Trump administration is sanctioning individuals who help us understand manipulation and unwanted persuasion online. Go figure.

This is getting out of hand.

AI making up papers which then get innocently listed with authors' other publications online which then get cited, puzzling authors who never wrote such things …
Closing out my year with a journal editor shocker 🧵

Checking new manuscripts today I reviewed a paper attributing 2 papers to me I did not write. A daft thing for an author to do of course. But intrigued I web searched up one of the titles and that's when it got real weird...

I doubt very much if either Singapore or Switzerland have our mad cap political system, where strategies/policies that have only been in place for a few years are just ditched when the governing party changes.

And don't get me onto short-termism, uncertainty, and the impact on investment pipelines.
"when we embarked on a deluded adventure in trade barrier creation, we naturally assumed the UK governing class that we routinely deride would nevertheless seize the opportunity to turn the country in Singapore and Switzerland combined. They have sadly disappointed us"
Apparently Brexit is a failure because it wasn’t done properly.

Today is comma-mas.

Today is the day where we contemplate the correct placing of the comma in 'God rest you merry, gentlemen'.

And if we are lucky, we can have a row about it.
