Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothing—to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-being—is unconscionable.

I'm aware that the President likes to go on television and beg me to call him to ask for troops.

I find it strange, as Chicago doesn't want troops.

I also have experience asking him for assistance – just to have the rug pulled up from underneath me when execution meets reality.

Here's the video Trump just posted to Truth Social, with the claim that 11 people aboard the boat were killed.

There is zero evidence of self-defense here. Looks like a massacre of civilians at sea.

Even if they had drugs aboard, that's not a capital offense.

There are trans Americans right now looking out at this world and wondering if anyone is going to stand up for them and for their simple right to exist.

Well, I am. We are. We will.

Everything is really rough right now, but I’m incredibly proud of each and every one of you for doing what you can, when you can, in the face of adversity.

Take care of yourself. Take care of each other. Take care of the folks that are most vulnerable.

For the first time in 10 years, a child has died from measles in the United States.

Vaccines prevent measles.

Americans need to hear our top health officials say clearly: every child in America should get vaccinated against this terrible disease.

Today on :"this is not normal," here is an actual, official communication from the White House.

Beyond the insanity of the language used here, it manages to debunk its own point that the NIH spent millions of dollars to make transgender mice. If you actually read what the studies were for...
Yes, Biden Spent Millions on Transgender Animal Experiments

Here’s a list of just some of the lifesaving awards that were terminated. Nearly all were Congressionally mandated. They’ve saved millions of lives. 🧵

This. Public service work is not flashy or sexy, but it’s important and impactful. The vast majority of people that work in it do it for the mission.
Many of us connect our personal identities to our work. It is, after all, where we spend a large chunk of our lives. For those in public service work, there are often not obvious alternatives for pursue the values that motivate you because the private sector has different goals.

History buffs will know that every authoritarian leader eventually converges on some version of: "I *am* the state. I can not break the law, I am the law, the law is instantiated in me."

Our march to authoritarianism so far has been excruciatingly by-the-book. Hitting every beat. No surprises.
