someday the nets will be good again
Yeah I'm just not sure this amount of money means anything in this situation. I also think this is creating a "how much tanking is an acceptable amount of tanking" question that is effectively unanswerable.
The NBA has fined the Utah Jazz $500,000 and the Indiana Pacers $100,000 related to the management of their rosters for recent games.

Not doing something then is not an argument in favour of doing nothing now.
Where was this last year when the Jazz, Raptors and Wizards repeatedly did the exact same thing that the Jazz are being fined for now?
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver: “Overt behavior like this that prioritizes draft position over winning undermines the foundation of NBA competition and we will respond accordingly to any further actions that compromise the integrity of our games.”

Incredible. Look at the plus minus from starters to bench. That is how you lose a game to a team that is also trying to lose

All this says to me is that if the league doesn't punish a team soon for this stuff, the Nets have to join the arms race and get even worse. WAS pulled the same move last week. I can get all huffy about good and bad tanking but if the league doesn't care, the smart thing to do is join in.
Out for the Pacers tonight against the Nets:
Furphy
Haliburton
McConnell
Nembhard
Nesmith
Siakam
Toppin

Great analysis as always. I've been trying to think of an analogue for the tanking in the NBA in 2025 and all I could think of was The Producers. But it's so plainly game fixing by another name.
Even the word “tanking” makes what's transpiring around the #NBA sound like a toddler purposely knocking over a tower of blocks. No harm, no foul. Let’s start by calling it what it is. These teams are fixing games. Link: #Nets

Ryan and Capper blew the call on this IMO. They yapped right over a serious highlight.

I genuinely believe this season is going to get very ugly for the NBA. A perfect storm of all these teams needing to lose right now, a CBA that punishes poor drafters, and recent examples (Edgecombe and Flagg) of a shameless tank working incredibly well.
idk man tanking is just too funny

This Bulls team really is wild. They are running lineups composed almost entirely of guys who they just traded for. Other than Buzelis it's just a complete grab bag of dudes who walked in the door yesterday

Not yet sure if that was a fun superbowl but it was a satisfying one. As a certified Pats hater this all felt too flukey to me. And the Seahawks defense is an all timer. All is right with the world for this brief moment.

Plenty of other things to spend your time getting mad at but the sell high comment was so tasteless. Hope McCain makes him regret it.
Justin Martinez of The Oklahoman posted Jared McCain's first media availability as a member of the OKC Thunder on his Twitter page. Transcribed McCain's three answers which pertained to the Sixers:

Every year, fans get unduly excited about the possibility of a waiver pickup to round out their rosters. I have done it myself. Always essential to remember that cuts happen for a reason, and it's not because teams love to do favours for each other and just abandon decent players.
NBA waivers as part of trade deadline moves:

L. Ball UTA
C. Boucher UTA
J. Carter CHI
M. Conley CHA
P. Connaughton CHA
N. Dante ATL
N. Hayes-Davis MIL
H. Highsmith BKN
I. Jones DET
T. Martin BKN
G. Niang MEM
M. Plumlee OKC
D. Reath ATL
C. Thomas BKN
L. Travers CLE (two-way)

ARP (Always read Pina): "the [CBA] has encouraged a warped incentive structure. More and more attempts to build the best team possible have either been postponed or short-circuited by transactions that only look shrewd because of the stringent parameters under which they are made."

I had a moment at the beginning of this season where I was coming around on Giannis after years of hating the goofball shtick (and of course the 2021 series). But this I'm loyal but trade me back and forth nonsense... Just blech. Trying to have your cake and eat it too here.
