With all the hamate injury news the past 24 hours, I looked into some data back in 2022 when the shortstop who shall not be named fractured his and found these data points. Draw your own conclusions with Carroll, Holliday, and likely Lindor

"Along with all the other bones," he continued.
Zack Wheeler kept his rib that he had removed during thoracic outlet decompression surgery. It’s in his closet at his house.

Worry a little bit about the impact on his power, but this situation could certainly be worse.
Carlos Mendoza announced that Francisco Lindor is having surgery on his hamate today.

Astros closer Josh Hader experienced “arm soreness” before his fourth bullpen session of the winter, manager Joe Espada said. Hader had imaging that revealed “bicep inflammation.” Hader is scheduled to resume his throwing program today, but his status for Opening Day is in flux

The good news is that Lindor should be ready for the season regardless. But as noted in the blurb, some players often have initial decline in their power output.

I quite enjoy that my autocorrect always wants to make Shane Baz into Shane Bat.

Two news items from David Stearns just now....

1) Francisco Lindor is being evaluated for a stress reaction in his left hamate bone. Could need surgery, which would take around six weeks to return. Would still have a chance to be ready for Opening Day.

2) Juan Soto will play LF this season

Could be a sneaky good move.
Sources: The Mets have acquired lefty reliever Bryan Hudson from the White Sox for cash. Hudson was DFAd a few days back. Hudson was terrific for the Brewers in 2024 (1.73 ERA in 62.1IP). But 4.80 ERA in 15 IP with Brewers/White Sox last year.

Sugano gave up 33 homers in 157 innings in his first season stateside. This should go well.
