So, I think it's time I begin, in detailed specifics, talking about the mess that is Unbound / Boundless as a book publisher, in essence stealing most of a years royalties from me and many other authors, as a result of poor financial decisions, and legal BS.

I think the only way in which the people saying concern about AI energy demand isn't justified are correct is a situation in which the tools are simply so stunningly shit that no matter how hard companies try, they simply don't get used enough to cause a major jump in power demand

I'd love for ordinary people to have the power collectively to stop this waste, but I wonder whether most of the energy use actually occurs in direct response to end users anyway. Most AI functionality seems so ill-conceived that its designers already know they have to force it into use.
