One of my first studio gigs was illustrating decals for environmental design in animation and it was legit very fun and rewarding.
One of the most underrated design skills in games is graphic design for things like decals and fake branding for posters/stickers/flyers/books/props/signs/displays.
We take this stuff for granted and yet they are very much a world building detail that adds so much more life to environments.

Like, I’m doing good at work and my gran is well taken care of, but it’s Christmas Eve Eve and I haven’t put decorations up yet, the house is a mess, I’m catching up on like a weeks worth of laundry and I’m so so behind on art it’s unreal, but I haven’t told him about any of that lol

YES! this is what techbros who have let their creative selves wither call "procrastination" or "inefficiency" and try to technologise away, not understanding that it is the source of creativity and imagination and everything good
When I sit down to write I'm not consciously pulling from my notes, I'm drawing on the 6 months I spent reading biographies, watching hours of interviews, etc. There is a volume of research, of effort & time that is required to create something meaningful to draw from.

Like man, my career only exists in the way that it does now because a production designer was googling "realistic pokemon" and found me. If he could have just had a machine spit that out, I never would have gotten a job. This is a major issue hitting artist discoverability.

Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.
