Hey @albomp.bsky.social , are we “all the way with DJT”? Because I think we Australians are going to need a little reassurance from you that this is NOT your idea of a safe alliance either, and that being blu-tacked to a lunatic will not end well for us.
Thanks for your consideration.

3 studies:
1) January’s infernos in Los Angeles killed >440 once you factor in the smoke (official toll: 30).
2) Wildfire smoke kills 40,000 Americans a year, which could increase to 71,000 by 2050.
3) Canada’s wildfires in 2023 significantly worsened childhood asthma across the border in Vermont.

It would be practically and legally impossible to hold a royal commission that goes anywhere near the actions or motivations of the accused killer, before his criminal proceedings are concluded, which could take years. That limitation would render the royal commission itself pointlessly premature.

Sickening. Humankind has worked long and hard to accumulate this level of knowledge in one repository, and now it will be lost.

We’ll have a big gaping hole in access to the science documented before electronic publication.

Oh, David Rowe. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Plenty of vultures have been circling to derail new gun laws with their division and political opportunism.

One owner in the Goulburn Region owns 298 guns.

Police need a whole department to check up on people who do this weird form of hoarding, which has to be a mental health condition, surely??
In my postcode this year out of a population of 16,936 there are 1959 registered firearms owners, up 352 from 2023.

One owner has 109 guns - WTF. The average is 3.8

Amazing. David Shoebridge is responsible for this resource

Amazing development for fire season preparation.

It will help landholders, agencies and volunteers work out where the worst growth areas are in order to develop a bushfire mitigation plan leading up to the next fire season!
Researchers at the University of Melbourne developed AI that uses weather data and fire records to predict land-cover change over 90% accuracy, helping land managers and policymakers with erosion control, fire risk management, and biodiversity conservation. #betterworld
