UNMUTE. Marvin and Little Big Fat need an adoptive home together in/near Austin, TX so their current foster can take in a pregnant, dumped cat. Please adopt these big handsome dorks!
Due to the roads being iced over, Marvin and #LittleBigFat are with us for one more week. On February 1, you could welcome this handsome chubby motor into your home.

And what he finds broadly fits the picture that I've seen revealed in my reporting over the last year—"AI" is not broadly replacing jobs across the economy, but bosses and corporations very much are trying to use it to cut what labor costs they can; that means on art, words, and image production.

Since last year, we’ve been reporting on ICE extensively. But every week brings new information, and it’s getting harder to keep track of what’s happening, let alone remember what’s already happened.

So here’s a quick thread to help.

Age of Enlightenment

A lecture on freedom and equality in the 1770s. Here I used sunlight and shadow, as well as animals, to convey additional layers of metaphor. Commissioned for a history textbook.

#Booksky Did you know that you can get our great queer books at your local library? In print, ebook and audiobook (selected titles)! we are out on the Libby app under both ‘qospress’ and ‘Queen of Swords Press’ due to merger wackiness at one of our distributors.

Overall: 28% laid off in the last 2 years
US: 33%
Design/narrative: 20% in the last 12mo (most impacted discipline)

48% said they haven't found a new job, and the survey admits these numbers are likely an undercount.

Fun fact: the survey would boot you out if you'd been out of work >2 years.

Wasn't a massive part of the SAG strike how they didn't want AI to train on their voices and be used in film? But just fuck visual artists I guess?

Imagine having some goddamn class solidarity.

The embroidery piece in the header image of this fantastic article is just stunning, but the one further down from Sarah Gonsalves with Renee Good's last words and her murderer's response literally took my breath away.
Staff at a Twin Cities yarn store put together a pattern for a red knit “Melt the ICE” hat inspired by the Norwegian resistance.

They thought they would attract 10 people to a weekly knit-along.

They’ve sold 70,000 copies, raising more than $250k for immigrant aid groups.
