To the extent there was anything left of the Fourth Amendment for individuals (there already wasn’t much), it is rapidly evaporating.

Conservative ideology is fundamentally opposed to insurance because it requires the communal spreading of risk. Paul Ryan was making an ass of himself because of this long before Trump came along to be dumb about it.
The people can buy their own……. policy? From who, Don?

I sure would love to see if this seemingly weird article giving credence to very old nonsenical racist beliefs is actually mocking said beliefs as weird racist nonsense. But I am not giving up my payment information based on this headline.

As the face of the “progressive prosecutor” movement steamrolls to a 3rd term, let me be the millionth person to note that when that movement loses elections it’s billed in national media as a crisis for the left, while the movement’s high points, of which there have been many, are largely ignored.
Democrat Larry Krasner, a national figurehead for reform prosecutors, has won reelection as Philadelphia’s district attorney.

At this point the First Amendment is functionally more protective of a corporation's right to spend billions of dollars to influence an election than it is of the right of individuals to criticize the government.
From Bovino's deposition: (1) he calls protestors "violent" if they articulate views hostile to ICE, even if no violence is manifested; (2) he instructs his forces to attack and arrest protestors who express "hyperbolic comments," which is to say, criticism of ICE and Bovino.

Further proof that "tough on crime" is never actually about safety.

It is about violent social control. If that makes crime go down, that's a plus. But if it makes crime worse, that's never a reason to stop--and in fact that rise in crime is (somehow credibly) used to justify more toughness.
This is striking, and evidence of something I've been saying speculatively for a while - I think there's actually every reason to think that federal operations in Chicago could *strengthen* hispanic organised crime groups like the Latin Kings, not weaken them

Just want to reiterate that there’s no reason for this. There is no increase in crime. There are no riots. There’s no insurrection. They’re doing this without provocation. At least until they create one.
“.. A top US military official has ordered the national guards of all 50 US states .. to form ‘quick reaction forces’ trained in ‘riot control’, including use of batons, body shields, Tasers and pepper spray, according to an internal Pentagon directive ..”

I’m not sure why Brazil was a red line, but this is a good reminder that it would only take a handful of Republican senators to rein in this administration on MANY issues.
🚨 The Senate votes 52-48 to overturn President Trump's 50 percent tariffs on Brazil. 5 GOP Senators break ranks to vote against Trump: Collins ME, McConnell KY, Murkowski AK, Paul KY, and Tillis NC.
