Everyone wants there to be a grand scheme behind all of this but the terrible truth is that extremely stupid people are in charge and they have a fanatical devotion to wrong, childlike concepts of society and economics cooked up by right wing radio hosts in order to sell tainted dietary supplements

Our entire national security leadership team is a national security risk.

That seems bad. Is it bad?

Today feels like something of a turning point. A lot more people seem to be finally waking up to the insane danger we're in as a country with this madman running the show.

Unfortunately, the time to avoid the worst of this was 6 months ago. I sincerely hope it's not too late to stop this already.

They know this was a stratospheric fuckup. Democrats need to be loud, clear and ferocious to keep this story alive. Everyone can understand why this is bad (some will choose to pretend it isn't, don't worry about them). Demand resignations. Threaten consequences. Be forceful. Don't back down.

The economy has gone from Trump's best polling issue in his first term, to one of his worst this time around.

It will continue to fall as the effects of his disastrous policies really start to hit home, it's actually quite telling how unpopular his handling of the economy is *already.*
"Last week CNN/SSRS found Trump underwater on the economy by a substantial margin: 44% approve versus 56% disapprove. That's his highest economic disapproval rating ever in CNN's polling."

This seems like a big deal that should be getting more media attention.

They claim they can snatch people up, put them on planes, and deport them to a country run by an authoritarian, where those people will be forced to work slave labor at an inhumane prison. All without due process, and in defiance of federal courts.

The hypotheticals are over. This is the nightmare.

The fight going on in the Democratic Party right now is not between hard left, left and moderate. It’s between those who want to fight and those who want to cave. And Team Fight stretches across all ideological aspects of the Party. Misread this at your own peril.

Just putting it out there: if America does go to war with Canada or Mexico or Panama, it is the duty of all freedom-loving patriots to sabotage the war effort

I do not like this. I do not like being ruled by sociopaths soaked in an information system divorced from reality. I do not like that my president is an aspiring tyrant who has betrayed our allies to side with Putin. I do not like waking up every day feeling a kind of dirty no shower can fix.

Oh look, even more utterly reprehensible actions from the ghouls in the White House. This administration is genuinely pure evil.

What the actual fuck America? What is it going to take for most Americans to realize how insanely dangerous the path we're on is?

old Soviet joke for our times:

Guy stops by the newsstand every day, scans the front page, doesn’t buy the paper. One day the vendor asks what he’s up to.

Guy says: “looking for an obituary.”

Vendor says “those are towards the back of the paper, comrade.”

Guy says: “not the one I’m looking for.”

It's absolutely unreal that Trump's behavior and policies are increasingly indistinguishable from what one would expect a hostile foreign agent to do if they were president.

Alienating and antagonizing allies, disrupting the economy, destroying US global soft power, praising our enemies...
An American president threatening to extort one of his closest allies if he doesn’t destabilise his own country by acquiescing in a plan for ethnic cleansing & illegal conquest. Not just shameful; also profoundly harmful to America’s place in the region. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/11/w...

Oh look, man-made horrors beyond our comprehension.

This may be starting in Russia but it will be coming to a country near you before too long and it won't be limited to just business executives.

It will also be extremely hard to trace who is behind such an attack, so that'll be fun.
Russian criminal organizations have begun using FPV drones to kill their business rivals, the first recorded instance of such a thing.

Trump backing down on Mexico tariffs after winning "concessions" from Mexico to do things it's already doing, has me increasingly convinced the whole thing was just a distraction from what Musk was doing in the Federal payment servers.

Looking at the first week of the new administration, it certainly seems like the theme of this new administration is going to be "there is a reason you don't do that."

There's a reason you don't appoint violent alcoholics to run the department of defense...

You mean to tell me that the American government acting like domineering ungrateful douchebags while trying to strongarm *our own allies* into making huge concessions isn't actually how we make this country more "respected" and "great"?

Wow, who could've possibly predicted this turn of events.
Definitely seems like Trump II is gonna do more damage to US credibility and hegemony than the Iraq War did
