What about rural Ireland? They deserve long-term housing too and they're currently being drowned in Airbnb and touristifcation and forced to leave their communities due to lack of housing options.

just to provide a counterexample; I've been using linux full time for gamedev for over a year, and my experience has been:
- installation is pretty simple
- drivers, etc, everything worked out of the box
- all the software I cared about using works perfectly
- I never have to use Windows in a VM
- installation is pretty simple
