Discord posted an update abt their age verification - I feel the need to inform people that all of these things were already true last year when they had that data breach that exposed people's IDs. Bad actors got into a customer support account that had access to tickets with people's IDs in them.

This is not Discord “walking things back.” This is them further explaining the situation in more detail, and elaborating on how the new system will work. I understand the impulse to attribute this to outrage and Nitro cancellations, but this is just a better explanation, not a change.
Discord is already starting to walk things back a little, so people should keep doing what they're doing (cancel Nitro, leave feedback/criticism, direct contact through support tickets/phone/email/etc)

Reminder that neither Discord nor any of the governments that first enforced this provided any assistance to those who's ids were compromised during the breach in October nor has Discord gotten any punishment for deliberately changing their TOS to absolve them of responsibility
