It would be very, very interesting to see Donald Trump's autopsy when he finally keels over: I suspect that some of the people who are signing off on his fitness to be president are very much afraid of the state of his brain being revealed. I suspects that Cameroon doesn't want to be caught up in the ecological or legal consequences of a shadow-fleet vessel succumbing to poor maintenance - or being used as a weapons or jamming platform. Sensible people, if that's so.
Remember that governments do not assess threat by intention, but by capability and anomalies. These new capabilities are worrisome, but even more worrisome is the anomaly: If immigrants are to be deported, then why go to the illogical expense of building huge prison camps?

Please remember that Project 2025 was years in the making, and represents a concerted attack on all aspects of American life which its authors disdain. The movement - or tendency, since I doubt that it is only one organisation - has the ability and wealth to plan.
And worryingly, as you highlight, it would be extremely naive for us to assume the well funded right wing “think tanks” haven’t already worked out exactly how to dismantle what protections remain at blitzkrieg speed, should they gain power.

If the reports that Hegseth ordered no quarter, and that two survivors of the first boat attack were killed as they were clinging to the wreckage, are true then this is a war-crime. Hegseth, the commander of the mission, and the men who carried out any follow-up strike would all share in this guilt.
