Anyways i finished this chapter and it was just so much less satisfying narratively than the its original iteration. I just feel like the game is pulling me along by the arm to get from point A to point B.

I'm sure nobody wants to hear my Gamer Opinions but I will talk about effective RPG narrative for hours if you get me going.

I think one of the most memorable things about Dragon Quest VII was its sense of mystery, discovery, and trusting the player to piece together the narrative. But now I feel like everything is just being told to me.

In the original version of the game, you went around listening to the villagers' memories, to piece together where this staircase was, and what key item to use.

But now this guy just sums up the whole chapter for you and tells you how to solve the puzzle and it's just not good storytelling.

I'll be honest, it's not really the gameplay or streamlining that bother me about DQ7R. It's more that a lot of the wonder and exploration has been taken out.

I think this screencap was the moment that I realized the game doesn't trust me.

Someone once wrote an entire essay about how Soma Spirits was centrist, fascism-enabling propaganda.

The truth is much worse. It's actually a quirky earthbound-inspired game about depression.
I think my feelings for "art vs the artist" are simply "how much active harm to the community is this artist causing, and is it enough to detour me from their work?"

This is about mewgenics. Its fun. I liked binding of Isaac a lot. I dont really go after centrists the same way I go after bigots

reminds me of when I played DQ1 on one of those FC to SFC adapters, except Bomberman is far more harmonious here

This card is actually evil because I healed so many times in one turn that I ran out of time and lost the match.

Coworker: Oh yeah, how was your japan trip?
Me: It was fun. Did a good mix of shrines, temples, and weeaboo stuff.
Coworker: What is weeaboo?

If you have a substantial MV project it's probably not worth porting it over, but MZ's in a much better place now than it has ever been.

I turned around for like three minutes and RGG went from a beloved darling series to the most hated franchise online. How does this keep happening.

Oh yeah! The RPG Maker Festival is going on now and the Torch60 library is part of the event!

Play our games that are normally $0.00 for the low, low price of $0.00.

The song and dance of modern self-promotion might net you a following, but likely a shallow one. The grassroots "old ways" of doing things online will connect you with like-minded people who will stick around.

I think you've built a great network, and we'll still be here through the tough times.

Also for RPG Maker Festival 2026, there's I Hate You, Please Suffer for $8.70! Far in Slimes' future, adventuring has become a cottage industry that our hero joins to pay rent. Make money, make friends, make enemies, and maybe chase power...
