It isn't something i've spoken much of, but this week I start in a higher position at work.
It's exciting and also bittersweet. It might be best to start winding down my online life a little more.
I won't disappear or anything, but I think i'm at that point where it's better to be more subdued.

29 long years have passed since I founded the emulation archive, Zophar's Domain, on 11.9.96. To this very day, the site still stands as a testament to an era that never actually disappeared but continues to live in the hearts of retrogamers all over the word. Emulation Forever!

About 10 years ago, low-effort mass produced RPG Maker games started flooding Steam. A few of those devs joined RM communities like RMN.
One thing was common: They emphasized business and profit. They had no interest in talking about creativity.
Unfortunately AI was the next logical step for them.

I don't hate on bad games if they clearly make an effort. I will forever love The Demon Rush for shooting for the moon and blowing its own legs off.
But when I see an RPG Maker game proudly announcing that it's part-written by ChatGPT? Fuck everyone involved in that game. Absolute losers.

Fun tidbit: this game had an even more obscure successor by the same team called 100-Turn Hero. A mobile-only paid game only avaible in Japan and delisted as of 2023.

games rule and exploring the good/rough/weird is what makes them awesome. something being strange doesn't mean it's terrible, the devs were not "on drugs" while making something unusual or difficult. such a miserable and embarrassing perspective to have. AHHHH

i'm really annoyed the internet has reached a point where people by default think every game is bad, especially with older ones. i get this from random chatters no matter how much i am enjoying myself, streamers have their whole personality revolve around trashing every tiny thing, it's exhausting
