A House panel is holding a hearing on a proposed ban on Congressional stock trading.

This ban is long overdue. Why should members of Congress be able to use privileged information to make money on the stock market, while they’re supposed to be working for you?

This. Staying silent when he says crap like this just normalizes it.

Imagine if instead the room went dead silent and no one asked Another. Single. Question.

Then reported exactly what happened and why.

Stop. Enabling. Him.
I'm less upset with Trump showing his true colors than I am with the fact that not a single one of her colleagues defended her. I expect Trump to be a crass, misogynistic narcissist. But every single one of those "journalists" were silently complicit.

Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

I mean, look, I'm not a reporter, so who am I to talk?

But on a day where the president both just called a woman reporter "Piggy" and is celebrating someone who had people bone saw apart one of my colleagues, I might just be a little ready to defend my colleagues and profession.

But that's just me

$28 Billion Hemp Industry Faces Extinction With Government Re-Opening
The cannabis world's thriving sector has enjoyed federal legalization since the 2018 Farm Bill. Now, because of an amendment in the bill to reopen the government, it might go up in smoke.

Good morning, Bluesky! Time to rise and shine!✨ ☀️🌅

Too bad I’m trapped here in the warm bed, held hostage by a fuzzy gray cat-shaped scarf.

Remember: An estimated 70% of congressional Republicans may financially benefit from the tax cuts in their Big Ugly Bill.

While cutting Medicaid and food stamps for millions — including many of their own constituents — these lawmakers may be enriching themselves.

Priorities.

I don't take corporate PAC money.

I don't trade stocks.

I’m running to get big money out of politics once and for all.

Just heard re: some ICE agents who raided a Chicago taqueria, then went back to the same taqueria for lunch the following week and got confused when the owner kicked them out, and I realized "jesus these doofuses really do believe we're all living in a video game where the NPCs have no memory"

McDonald’s prices are so high that low-income visits dropped double digits. Delta’s cheap seats are down 5% but luxury seats are up. Budget hotels are losing revenue while high-end hotels climb. And the corporate response? Serve the rich and screw everyone else.

McDonald's is losing its low-income customers. Economists call it a symptom of the stark wealth divide
These customers are feeling the pressures of higher prices on groceries and apparel and the growing cost of rent and child care, the company's chief executive said in a recent earnings call.

I stand with unionized Starbucks workers, who are on strike across the country right now for better wages and working conditions.

Until Starbucks strikes a fair bargain with its workers and ceases its union-busting behavior, I'll continue to boycott the company.

I love the whole "I don't have kids in school anymore, I shouldn't have to pay taxes that go to the public school" argument from people.

It's the classic "I got mine, fuck you."

I have no kids.

I never want kids.

Take more of my tax money and put it towards schools and not cops.

Thank you.
