Yes
By a former Israeli PM

Whenever I have heard this said or chanted, it has *always" been about returning land to Palestinians and *never* about hatred of Jews.

Another instance of political suppression dressed up as action against religious extremism.

New Queensland hate speech laws to ban slogans and symbols

Really, I am hard-pressed to think of more divisive decisions in the past 5 years.

So much for healing and social cohesion.

What a contrast with how NZ handled the terrorist mosque attacks.
A “major event” is usually something that attracts a huge crowd. Perhaps he’s thinking of the demonstrations?

It was Ronald Reagan who raised the rate of capital gains tax to the same rate as for wages.

HIs successors reduced it, but as was pointed out, 'Reagan’s tax increase did not cause investment to fall, as many anti-tax ideologues had predicted.'

Amazing they didn’t allow it.

Those were the days.

"Did you turn off the power?"

"This is a separation of powers issue. Whether a political protest goes ahead or not should be a question for the executive government not for judges,” says a man who clearly has no idea at all about the separation of powers.

Judge criticises Abbott's 'misconceived' comments over harbour bridge protest
The former prime minister said it should not be for judges to decide when a political protest was justified, which are remarks NSW's top judge called "regrettable".

Recent US experience (and historic German experience) suggests they may not get a second chance.

Probably best not to dismiss the recent poll results of PHON in Australia.

Labour has fallen from 34% of the vote at the 2024 election to below 20% now.

There have been 11 MRP projections, over the past year, of seats to be won at the next UK election, all taken from different polls.

All show Reform winning the most seats. Almost half show it with an absolute majority.

Labour easily won the previous election.

Astonishing that this abuse of taxpayers’ money will continue, almost unrestruicted.
After taking years Labor has finally responded to the reccs of two Parliamentary inquiries into the consultancy sector. But they've failed to meet the moment. Labor needs to legislate the reports’ recommendations instead of relying on voluntary guidelines & endless reviews.

Political donations data shows big consulting firms are still giving large donations to the govt. It’s a conflict of interest - no wonder Labor is failing to act. Three of the Big 4 firms continue to donate to the govt - this is just wrong & Labor is refusing to take action.

Yeah, might as well have had a sample of 5 as 5800.

#nzpol Stats NZ has put Household Living Price Index data - showing how the cost of living is affecting different households. The cost of living has nearly stalled if you have a high income (1.2%). The poorest have a household inflation rate (3.4%) nearly 3 times the rate of the richest.

James is the most instinctive and natural of broadcasters: a skill that presents as casual ease, but is in fact a rare and honed genius. A craft. And he listened … that’s the trick.
I loved every second of the many hours we nattered together on air. He’s the best.

Good work, Gareth.

I was expecting the opening sentence to be followed by the Nobel Prize joke. I imagine this was intended.

Peter de Wit gana el premio anual a la mejor viñeta política de los Países Bajos.

Readers outside NZ may think that the most dangerous ‘natural’ threat in the ‘Shaky Isles’ is earthquakes. Or maybe volcanos.

But most years, it’s ‘slips’, more commonly known as landslides or avalanches (of earth, not snow).

Made much worse by climate change, which NZ government now ignores.
Slips have always been part of the landscape of Aotearoa but with deforestation and increased heavy rain events under climate change, they are going to become more frequent and widespread. Sadly we have learnt nothing from the Auckland Anniversary floods and Cyclone Gabrielle just 3 years ago. 🧵
