Trump's tariffs are hurting us in two ways:

First, the obvious: Higher costs → either lower profits or higher prices.

Second, more subtle (perhaps bigger): We’ve signaled we’re an unreliable partner, so allies are reorganizing supply chains to avoid us. That's hard to unwind.

The murder of Charlie Kirk was criminal, wrong, and should be condemned.

And Charlie Kirk was a horrible, hateful man who spent his life radicalizing young people to embrace their worst demons by targeting women, people of color, immigrants, and the marginalized.

I refuse to sanitize him.

Charlie Kirk spent his life‘s work and all of his energy and time targeting out-groups while arguing for a world in which gun massacres would be easy to enact, plentiful, and inevitable, and he became famous and wealthy doing it, and we’re now not supposed to mention that because it’s not polite.

Gas is a fossil fuel. It’s not a bridge to the future it’s a highway to hell on earth.
I'd like to see the calculations done rigorously, but I suspect that accelerated methane emissions from US oil and gas systems in the 20 years since the fracking boom have caused far more warming than what we avoided through coal-to-gas switching for electricity. I doubt it's even remotely close.
New paper. I wish this wasn't the case, but most progress on reducing US greenhouse gas emissions is likely spurious. Why? EPA underestimates methane emissions from oil and gas. Relevant today as Repubs vote to gut IRA's methane monitoring/mitigation program. 🧵

PEI is extremely susceptible to ground water threats. Aquifer collapse and saltwater intrusion will devastate the Island.
Overpumping of groundwater accounts for 44‰ of global sea level rise—versus 37% from Greenland + 19% from Antarctica. Because after water is put to human use, it escapes into the ocean.

And groundwater is a finite resource. In some areas, so much has already been drained, aquifers have collapsed
Groundwater is drying out, heating up, and causing sea level rise
Overuse of groundwater has created zones of “mega-drying” around the world — and caused more sea level rise than Greenland’s ice sheets.
