1. Certain kinds of shows just take longer to make. Sopranos episode shoots were twice as long as for network tv at the time. 2. Shorter seasons means that everyone has to do multiple jobs a year, rather than treating one show as home base. So it becomes hard to coordinate everyone’s schedules+
So WHY is it taking so long? Do you see that changing?
