One thing I never got about the “adoption as an alternative to abortion“ propaganda is it says love your child enough to give them life but don't love them too much because this other family wants them and they are going to take them.

Last year there was a story about a relative of JD Vance who had adopted a disabled Asian child who needed a heart transplant, but the family refused to vaccinate her which was putting off the surgery. Does any one else remember this/know what happened to that girl?

My adoptive mom lived out her mean girl fantasy on me big time. She grew up as “the ugly duckling” in her family so when I became a chubby kid she bullied me worse than my peers. When I look back on photos from that time I’m like wow I was so little and cute but I never heard nice things like that.
to be adopted is, all too often, to be unwittingly recruited for a role in other people’s trauma-rooted fantasy play.

Also almost every woman I know has the experience of being hit on by grown men before the age of 16. like I was 10 in my school uniform at the library having to smile awkwardly and run from their advances.

I remember working with kids this age when I was 22 and even then the 6ish years between us felt miles long. One day some of the girls told me a man would harass them at the bus stop across from the school and it sent me into a rage. They ALWAYS know when a kid is underage they just don’t care
when i was a 16yo girl i thought i was an adult. coaching 12-17yo girls as a 28yo really hammered home how much i was wrong about being an adult at 16 and how obvious it is to actual adults that a 16yo is not an adult. if they say they cannot tell they are lying because they are a creep.

many people see adoption as like build a bear for kids. You take a kid and strip them of their name and identity and make them an extension of you. I don’t think it’s a huge leap to say that kids like Liam Ramos seem like a gold mine for potential (white) parents

The amount of couples waiting to adopt is a much higher number than adoptable kids as of like 2023. conservatives love talking about the birth crisis and the nuclear family. We’ve seen they aren’t afraid to make families with POCs as long as they can force their values.
