Hi-Ho, Kermit the Frog here. (Also, okay, actually a human with a small residential architecture biz, interested in urban design, MCM architecture, cats, and all things Seattle/PNW related.)

I just reread Wuthering Heights. I don’t care what anyone says, I still love it. Reading it took me back to my childhood love of melancholy English literature set on the moors of England starting around age 9 with A Secret Garden. I love brooding, dramatic, 19th century Brits & I 🤍 all the Brontes.

A new house is being built across the street in my 1960s neighborhood. It is more than twice the square footage of anything else around, very stark modern, and now they have planted very tall palm trees in the front yard. This is the Seattle area. It’s kind of wild to watch.

Withering Heights was very fun. Yes, I know.

I have been appointed to my city's planning commission. Of the 7 they chose (out of 15 candidates they deemed "qualified"), I am the only one with a background in architecture/urban planning. This could be interesting. I'm so curious what the criteria was...

Trying to figure out how to get a kid a driver’s license in WA is crazy. You can’t get a permit until you sign up for drivers ed but drivers ed is a 5ish week course where you are expected to already know how to drive. They don’t teach you anything, they just sign off skills.

Having an “I’m an idiot” kind of day at work. Cool, cool.

Can someone explain to me why the Super Bowl half time show needs to be some kind of pious, moral event?? I mean, football surely is not.

You know what they’re going to store in those warehouses?

People
In the last month ICE has bought warehouses in:

- Hagerstown, MD: $102 million
- Surprise, AZ: $70 million
- Hamburg, PA: $87 million
- Tremont, PA: $120 million
- San Antonio, TX: $82 million
- El Paso, TX: $123 million
- Social Circle, GA: price unknown

This is unprecedented.

When my youngest was 4,5,6ish, he insisted on wearing a Seahawks jersey pretty much everyday. I was always scouting Marshall’s & TJ Maxx for cheap ones. LOL.
That’s the closest we’ve ever come to being sports fans. Still, I love an occasion for hometown pride and it was so fun to watch the game.

Charlie Puth! Did Taylor do this?

I was just updating my project status board and realized I am so far going to have 8 projects under construction this year. Possibly mostly at the same time. That feels like a lot.

When you go to submit a permit to update a 100yo house & the city says “nope, it’s on an abandoned landfill” and you have to break the news to your clients that they have to spend an extra $6k for a geotech to say it’s fine, actually.
How’s your day??

In The Good Place, they would call this a Jeremy Berimy.
Seattle's current plans call for this...abomination...at the south end of the Ballard Bridge but Rep. Julia Reed, with input from Councilmember Strauss, just submitted a state transportation budget request to signalize the intersection.

Trump: "I have determined that the fastest way to bring The Trump Kennedy Center to the highest level of Success, Beauty, and Grandeur, is to cease Entertainment Operations for an approximately two year period of time, with a scheduled Grand Reopening that will rival and surpass anything."

So are we now being distracted from the Minneapolis situation with … the Epstein files? Have we come full circle?

Catherine O'Hara! No! It's like Diane Keaton all over again. I am genuinely crushed. Such a warm and funny woman.

I need good exercise music to add to my playlist. Think Dua Lipa, Lizzo, that sort of thing - artists or specific songs with a good upbeat beat. Who am I missing?

Those of you who are able to let others’ displeasure of you roll off your backs: how do you do it? I need a pep talk. Professionally I’m used to glowing reviews, but I missed something important in a permit submitted that has shifted a project timeline and now my clients are super angry.

First Hill aka Pill Hill because it’s where all the hospitals are. 💕
I hope this man’s family knows he’s left a legacy of care. He absolutely should still be alive, though.
Seattle cares. We know we could be next.

My husband is genuinely the best human I know. He is a solo practicing attorney with what you might call a country practice - a lot of random cases come through the door and lots of characters to go with it. A guy who has been repeatedly told to close his mortuary because he’s not paid taxes in ages

Judging by the 4th of July level of fireworks I’m seeing out my living room window, I take it the Seahawks are going to the Super Bowl?
