Had missed this NYT piece on AI in newsrooms, which is pretty decent except for this egregious comment about AI from Stephen Adler of NYU:
"It excels at analyzing large data sets"
It absolutely does not excel at doing data analysis. It's very good at assisting in the code & approach.

Though Trump’s pardons can’t extend to state crimes, I think it’s worth pointing out the message being conveyed:
Trump’s allies are alleged to have stolen data from state voting systems in an effort to help him overturn an election he lost.
Now he’s pardoning them for it.

News coverage of this has focused on the pardon of those involved in the fake electors plot.
But the pardon also extends to key figures who participated in the unauthorized breach of voting systems in Coffee County, Georgia
My reporting on the breach: www.lawfaremedia.org/article/what...

He couldn’t “comply” because of his disability…they don’t care
This is not the first time they’ve gone after a disabled person
They target the most vulnerable because it’s an easy way to meet their quota

A quick backgrounder on Nigeria for those who are just tuning in.
1. There's no Christian genocide, and certainly not on the part of the govt.
2. There has been a decade-long Islamist insurgency, mainly in the north but spreading in recent years, that has targeted many, including Christians.

There is some sad irony in McClatchy shutting its DC bureau the same day that Dick Cheney died.
That bureau (then Knight-Ridder) did some of the best, most skeptical reporting anywhere in the run-up to the Iraq War. And they took a lot of shit for it at the time.
