Report #1 on the impacts of non-consensual deepfake image abuse.

Sonia suffered years of panic attacks and needed counselling after photos, some dating from when she was a teenager, were edited & uploaded on an explicit site with her personal info.

She's come forward because of the Grok scandal.
A woman whose images were deepfake edited and uploaded to porn sites without her consent has appealed to the Government to use every power to stop predators.

She told Virgin Media News the abuse led to years of panic attacks and unwanted contact.

Teresa Deevy, the playwright once described as 'the Irish Chekhov', died #otd in 1963. Teresa lost her hearing when she was 19 but learned to lip-read in the theatres of London. She returned home to write plays that gave voice to women in the margins.

One reason that X remains a ‘core’ news and information app is that vital utilities and public bodies treat it as a central communication tool with the public.

Gardai, buses, trains, weather alerts, airports, councils etc.

If something urgent happens, they treat X as a primary platform.

And they’re off. The annual mass escape from Dublin Castle, commemorating the real jailbreak of 1592 by Red Hugh O’Donnell & the O’Neill Brothers. Competitors will cover 62km through the night, across the mountains to Glenmalure Valley. That’s if they make it, unlike Art O’Neill, who died en route.

More efficient, they say...

There's a frustrating level of inertia & dismissiveness in the way public bodies, respected media outlets, academics, and so many others keep publishing content on X. Making it quasi-infrastructural is a huge part of the problem. Find alternatives -it isn't 2010 anymore! Build on open infrastructure
