In 2016, Ken Paxton had the audacity to sit at my table and break bread with my family knowing full well that my son is trans, then SIX YEARS LATER wrote an opinion stating that families like mine shouldn't exist. Within days, a CPS investigator was in our home threatening to remove our children.🧵

The Public Broadcasting Act of 1967 created the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. I reread it today; nothing in the law allows a president to defund PBS and NPR. In fact, Congress specifically sought to insulate public media from political pressure.

How long before American truckers are laid off? The ports are empty.

Huge decline at L.A. port is a hit to truckers—and a stark warning of coming tariff damage
Los Angeles is already experiencing a huge drop-off, and truckers in other cities will soon be hit, too.

I keep using the term deportation. That’s wrong because that implies a legal process. It’s actually kidnapping and or human trafficking.
BREAKING: A federal judge just exposed a horrific act by the Trump administration—deporting a 2-year-old U.S. citizen to Honduras with no meaningful process while her father fought to keep her here. They are just fucking monsters.

Judge says 2-year-old US citizen appears to have been deported with ‘no meaningful process’
The girl was deported Friday with her mother to Honduras, despite her father’s efforts to keep her in the United States.

So what we’ve learned is that Trump’s tariff announcement had the same effect on the stock market as COVID had. But don’t worry about Trump! He left yesterday for another long weekend golf tournament in Miami, financed by the Saudis. So glad he is not suffering!

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

It's not a bad idea to go to the local Walmart or big box retailer and buy lots of consumables now. From toothpaste to soap, anything you can find storage space for, buy before they have to replenish inventory.

Even if it's made in the USA , they will jack up the price and blame it on tariffs.

Today I lost an NIH grant training clinicians to do research about intimate partner violence with perinatal women.

More women are murdered in the perinatal period than die of obstetric complications.

I didn't just lose a grant. We lost an entire cohort of people building careers to prevent that.

This is a bigger issue than people realize. Not just jobs lost. But their families losing benefits. Landlords losing tenants. Cities and towns losing revenue. This is how recessions start

Ready Fire Aim is no way to govern.
More accurate, fewer words;

"There are plenty of contractors going under".

A friend furloughed 75% of staff (furlough w/paying for health insurance for three months), 50% exec pay cut, 25% rest of staff to keep as many people w/salary.

PS: Wasn't 18F a government office, not a contractor.
