I did this when I flew last week; they don't make it obvious that you can opt out (by which I mean, TSA will direct you to stand in front of the camera to have your picture taken; they do not ask or act like it's a choice) BUT it is completely optional!!
Just opted out of using my face as a boarding pass which, as a reminder, is something you can totally do

so I was out of town for a week helping with family child care, and during that time my ringworm foster kittens got cleared for adoption! I was super sad I didn't have a chance to snuggle them PPE free but I was able to come say hi to them while they were all at the shelter still
