Dismayed at the current state of conservative Christianity.

Remember when "America has many groups of people in it and that's good and makes us strong" was an uncontroversial - even cliched - viewpoint that was universally endorsed across the political spectrum?

We can go back! We just have to get rid of the tiny handful of bitter, angry men in the way.

Growing up I always felt that attempts to "find" the USA in the prophecies of Revelation were always contrived and stretched. Now. I think we are easy to spot.

Babylon. The USA is Babylon in the book of Revelations. (If of course it is even important enough to be there)

Racism is unacceptable to Christ.

There are no divisions in Christ.

If you cannot denounce racism, I have reason to believe that you are not in Christ, as you are allowing artificial divisions to be created between believers.

We are all one in Christ, no matter what.

When we Christians are more known for our support of presidents than we are for our support of the poor, the immigrant, the abused, the marginalized, the sick, the hungry, and the oppressed, that is when we know we are following someone other than Jesus and we have a lot of repenting to do.

I think the issue is "Christian Politicians" rather than politicians who are Christians

Just like businesses. If a business has crosses or Jesus in its signs and ads, RUN AWAY.

If a politician leads with "you should vote for me because I am a Christian" RUN AWAY!!!

The Baptist paradox.

Separation of church and State is one of my religious beliefs.

Which means I shouldn't use government to enforce my religious beliefs, which include Separation of Church and State!

And yet, I am OK with instituting this specific doctrine into government.

My thoughts on the national prayer breakfast.

Applicable to prayer in publuc schools or other secular pursuits
Public prayer is by its nature a religious ceremony.

We cannot sanctify the secular, just by uttering a prayer beforehand.

This Christian (Baptist) would rather have a government that is entirely secular, agnostic to all religions, than one that profanes God in its attempt to sanctity the secular.

We had a better system. But we have to maintain it. The problem is decent people just want to live their lives with their families, while sociopaths want to take control of everything.

We need people who are both powerful and kind, which is the rarest group.

Ultra-rich individuals and large corporations are incompatible with democracy.

This is because their wealth and or size gives them too much power in relation to the voter.

Small government conservatives (which I consider myself) must come to terms with this.

One of the things this small government conservative has learned from this era is small government isn't enough.

We also need small business.

The power we have allowed corps to accumulate is also part of the problem.
It’s been a grim and very small pleasure to see liberals finally realizing the value of federalism and small government. For many conservatives, states rights was just veiled racism, but for some of us, it had real meaning as opposition to government getting bigger and more powerful.
Speaking of Reagan quotes "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'" have occurred to me frequently with Trump particularly with ICE. Of course it always seemed appropriate for Reagan's drug fighting policies as well.

Any bill passed must include the reaffirmation that DHS cannot deny a congressman, senator the ability to inspect a DHS facility. Add teeth to this with penalties.
UPDATE: After seeing this video, I informed ICE of my intent to visit the Baltimore facility today. I was told I would be denied entry.

It’s clear Trump's ICE would rather engage in a cover up. I will not stop pressing until we get answers. We need transparency & accountability.
Like many of you, I have seen this video, and I'm demanding answers.

My team has reached out to ICE repeatedly and have yet to get clear answers.

Also reaffirm congressional right to inspect Immigration facilities and add punitive measures for any govt actor who prevents a congressman from doing this needs to be in any compromise
Chuck Schumer's starting position should be as maximalist as possible -- complete abolition of ICE, resignations of Bovino, Homan, Noem and Miller, unmasking of all agents, and prosecution by state authorities of the murderers.

Don't start with what looks like a compromise half-measure.
Majority of the country now wants to abolish and/or dismantle ICE and yet Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. told the caucus the message had to be to “restrain, reform and restrict ICE.”

Once again it looks like Schumer is about to choke after getting a massive opportunity.

So pathetic and weak.

The reason why cyclists and pedestrians push back against these types of campaigns is not because we think visibility is bad (I wear hig-viz!), but because it's victim blaming that diverts attention from the real issues: dangerous drivers and poor infrastructure

Show me the most depraved undocumented immigrant, who has committed the most heinous crime, causing harm to me directly. ICE should not shoot that person. EVER. The state should NEVER execute a person, period, and certainly not without due process, certainly not in the street. This is fundamental.

Not only leaving the race but leaving the party. May there be more and more.
pretty wild statement re: Republican Chris Madel drop from race for MN governor:

"Saying he cannot support the national GOP's 'stated retribution on citizens of our state, nor can I count myself a member of a party that would do so."

Don't let MAGA warp the language.

The people of Minnesota are the actual conservatives. They want to go on living their life as they were a few months ago.

It's MAGA/ICE that is forcing unwanted radical change on them.

Someone today sent me some fake news that was also aligned with my views.

I rejected it, completely.

You can do this too.

Don't judge the validity of a statement solely by whether it aligns with your beliefs.

Christians:

Who do you serve?

1. Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for your sins and has prepared a home for you in heaven.
2. Trump, a non believer in word and deed, an adulterer, thief, hatemonger, divider of the brethren, and so on.

You CANT serve both God and Trmp.

I choose Christ

This is the 2nd president in a row we as a nation have dealt with where there are concerns the president is not Fit for duty.

Proposal: presidential medical and financial records during the presidency are required to be released on a regular basis.

As I watch what has become of the Republican Party and Evangelical Christianity, I see their true beliefs.

They believe in authority and hierarchy, not in laws.

The Republican party follows their leader, not the Constitution.

Evangelicals follow their pastor, not the Bible. 1/5
