Yeah this is just all bad. EA laid off tons of people to make themselves attractive for an acquisition and soon even more people will lose their jobs.
Meanwhile, major stock holders are getting a fat paycheck and investors get a shiny new asset to bleed dry.
Everyone wins except the workers.

A lot of people are (understandably) focused on the Saudi Arabia and Kushner part of this, but the far bigger immediate impact will come from the new private EA being on the hook for $20 billion in debt. That could mean mass layoffs, more aggressive monetization, and other big cost-cutting measures

I learned about genocide in high school and our teacher covered examples like the Holocaust and the Rwandan Civil War.
Now younger generations are saying that Israel is committing genocide against Palestine.

It sounds like in the long term Sony is eventually moving away from a hardware centric business model according to the company's senior vice president. We have already had LEGO Horizon Adventures grace the Nintendo Switch and by the sounds of it more games could eventually come to the Nintendo Switch 2 and future Nintendo platforms. Sony has been releasing first party games on PC for a while now and they have presumably been a success.

Fans may love Nintendo, but Nintendo doesn't always love its fans. It's really a shame to see such an adversarial relationship between a company and its customers just because said company is overly protective of its IP.

RTA in Japan has revealed exactly why Nintendo titles won't feature at the huge speedrunning event in The Land of the Rising Sun. The team says that they were told by Nintendo that they needed to apply for permission to feature each individual game in the tournament. Therefore RTA in Japan will not be using any Nintendo-owned title for this summer’s event, which takes place 9th August to 15th August.
