The problem with ICE is not that it's targeting people who aren't criminals. The problem with ICE is that it's an unaccountable secret deportation police. It cannot be reformed under a better president. It can be made less terrible, but the instrument of repression remains for the next tyrant.

This explains why British Library staff are on strike

The union says - managers take home up to £170k with £15k bonuses, while staff offered below-inflation pay rise

Meanwhile, frontline staff take abuse for the massive data breach - which managers failed to foresee

Another incredible self-own: the Trump Administration's fantasy scenario, the 'Current policies' scenario or CPS, shows that you need to engage in 110 billion tonnes of mineral extraction - mostly fossil fuels.

It's just over half in the net zero scenario: ~60bn tonnes

a tip for fellow #ADHD folks, when I have so much to do that I don’t know where to start, I just start anywhere. It would be great if it was the thing that’s most urgent, but you can’t always think about that, so I just pick something & do it. It almost always gets things going

The idea *suppliers* of fossil fuels are neutral meeters-of-demand remains one of the worst lies

Their job is not just digging up fossil fuels: their job is bullying, pushing, fighting, lying and lobbying to ensure fossil fuels get burned as much as possible

Air BnB accounts for 160,000 properties that used to be long term rentals.

Air BnB started in 2012 with 5k homes on its books.

In 2018 it had 80k it now has projections of 200k by the end of this year.

Rents have risen by 44% in the last 6yrs!

I will never understand why the Australian media, especially the ABC, keep calling the new mayor of New York a radical leftist whilst referring to the far right weirdos in both America and Australia as merely “conservatives’.

92%: the percentage of funding for Nigel Farage's far-right political party Reform UK that comes from fossil fuel interests.

Across the world, anyone blaming immigrants, etc, it's all just a smokescreen to allow the rich to keep on getting richer by killing our planet.
