There are GALLEYS OF MY DEBUT!
The emotions I felt when I first held my book (and still feel every time I look at the galleys on my shelf) were…I don’t even know. A lot. A jumbled up mix of a whole freaking lot. 1/4

This sounds super scary & yes part of it IS, but not ALL books print overseas—ONLY 4 color books. & publishers aren’t passively accepting tariffs. They’re doing all they can to minimize the costs on anything that does ship from China. So yes it’s scary & bad, but authors shouldn’t feel hopeless!
Incidentally, since almost all the physical books from major publishers in the US are printed in China, that probably just increased the price by 50%, which massively lowers sales and means publishers will do much smaller print runs.
