I take back everything reasonable I said during the SFWA debate. Until we have regulations in place on this monster shit, I am unreasonable. I am reactionary. I am anti-progress.

They are posting pictures of naked 14 year olds, WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE DOING HERE.

A: i plan to keep going the same pace and abandon resolutions! in terms of worldbuilding i'd like to focus more on Ešurassun and the TTRPG setting i want to run (👀). my writing goals are to write 1) more short stories & 2) a novel—literally ANY novel orz

happy new year~!

#DecemberWorldbuilders
#DecemberWorldbuilders. Here we are, at the end of the year... What are your plans for next year? Do you have any worldbuilding or writing goals? Any aspects of your world you'd like to expand on?

I plan to keep this prompt game going, so expect more q's all year long!
January 1, 2026 at 1:50 AM
A: i feel a pretty neutral "meh" about it. definitely did NOT write as much as i wanted (which was to complete the zero draft of a novel... didn't happen). despite this, i like a lot of what i wrote and am coming to appreciate my style more because at least i CAN write!

#DecemberWorldbuilders
#DecemberWorldbuilders, friends, how have your felt about your writing in general this year? Did you write as much as you wanted to? Do you *like* your writing? Or does this question make you look at your manuscript in despair?
December 30, 2025 at 3:30 PM
A: something unique about Ešurassun is that it's one of many realms dotting the spokes of a world known as the Wheel: a literal wheel with "heaven" as the hubcap! and the necrotic energy of the dead worlds along the spokes have slowed down the wheel, therefore time itself

#DecemberWorldbuilders
#DecemberWorldbuilders, it's the last few days of the month and I like to ask some more broad questions about your worldbuilding generally or your habits

Share something you think is unique about YOUR world. OR, something in your world that is rare to the people living there!
December 30, 2025 at 12:36 AM
A: there's very little water on Ešurassun, only one river and a small sea. around Kaftoares some of the snakes that inhabit the island are aquatic. there are also frogs, as well fish (still working on what kinds specifically) who eat the riverside clay

#DecemberWorldbuilders
We made it to the last day of Animals Week here in #DecemberWorldbuilders. Tell me about some aquatic creatures in your world. Maybe something that lives in the ocean or a river? However you want to define 'animal' is up to you!
December 28, 2025 at 3:28 PM
A: sorry they keep cropping up this week, but cetus are flying space whales! many demons have flight-capable wings (Gozzimir, lamashtu, & minor spirits). and there are also winged-snakes, an invasive species from another realm in symbiotic relationships with cetus

#DecemberWorldbuilders
It's Animals Week! Tell me about an animal in your world that can fly, #DecemberWorldbuilders! Once again, you define what an animal is for the prompt. If you want to include sapient animal-people or semi-sapient creatures of questionable 'animalhood' that is up to YOU
December 27, 2025 at 7:46 AM
A: this part of the world is underdeveloped, so brainstorming time! Ešurassun probably has flightless birds who burrow under sand, lizards drawn to the desert oases, and horsey-dinosaurs people can ride as mounts. and with the existence of witches, frogs are a must as well!

#DecemberWorldbuilders
#DecemberWorldbuilders, tell me about a REPTILE or AMPHIBIAN that exists in your world 👀 I'm counting flightless birds and dinosaurs 😆
December 26, 2025 at 6:10 PM
A: this part of the world is still a work-in-progress, but one of Zel's powers is that she can *turn into* cute animals! though, it's not quite shapeshifting. she specifically likes turning into a super fluffy lion and laying in Tapputi's lap since Ta loves big cats

#DecemberWorldbuilders
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to those who celebrate. Merry Thursday to those who don't! #DecemberWorldbuilders, tell me about the CUTE animals in your world, especially the furry, fluffy ones :3
December 25, 2025 at 4:34 PM
A: demons are not animals but creatures of questionable sapience (due to the fact that in this* realm, they're all under the control of the Bird King, as well as consummate liars). while mostly nocturnal there are 2 notable exceptions that bring doubt to demons' true natures

#DecemberWorldbuilders
#DecemberWorldbuilders, which of your animals are gonna be up watching Santa go down the chimney tonight? Tell me about your nocturnal creatures🌙
Also, I'm leaving it up to you to decide what an 'animal' is. Is it a semi-sapient companion monster? It counts if you want it to!
December 24, 2025 at 1:14 PM
A: touched on this a bit in the previous prompt, but the colossi are megafauna. more than 10x larger than titanoboa, these giant serpents resemble statues when stationed at the gates of Ešurassun's major cities. and being made of stone they don't need food for sustenance

#DecemberWorldbuilders
It's Animal Week on #DecemberWorldbuilders! Tell me about some BIG animals in your world. 👀
December 24, 2025 at 12:51 PM
A: cetus - space whales with special horns that open portals to other realms upon resonating with a "singing stone" (portal sizes are based on the stones). their hollow insides allow them to transport people and cargo without being cursed by alternate realm polarities

1/3

#DecemberWorldbuilders
It's the fourth week of #DecemberWorldbuilders! The theme is ANIMALS. I will ask for some very specific creatures, so if you haven't done any animal-related worldbuilding, feel free to take a break! No need to tell me you haven't done it!

Any magical animals in your world?
December 22, 2025 at 4:42 PM
A: there are a few! for example, cetus operators oversee portal travel between realms, most necromancers tend to corpse clean up (Tapputi is a... unique exception), and oracles whose job it is to keep "in tune" (like a radio) with the demigods who provide their visions

#DecemberWorldbuilders
#DecemberWorldbuilders, one of the great things about writing SFF is making a world *different* from our own. Have these differences led to a task that only *your* characters have to deal with? Any magic or monster-related chores? Anything related to world-specific festivals or seasonal changes?
December 22, 2025 at 4:23 PM
A: so... as has been made abundantly clear by now, Ešurassun heavily features slavery (inspired by greco-roman and other mediterranean systems). while there has been a slight softening in recent times, slave trading was massive when Zel was a child

1/4

#DecemberWorldbuilders
December 21, 2025 at 5:19 AM
A: haha... well, yes. but very few—even with the general amelioration of slavery across Ešurassun. for the most part servants and helpers are slaves, except high tier positions like perfumers, priests, cetus operators, and certain thaumaturges

#DecemberWorldbuilders
#DecemberWorldbuilders. Hello, friends! In your world, are there people who make a living by helping with everyday chores? Paid servants or some kind of employee of the state whose job is to do routine tasks other people don't want to do?
December 20, 2025 at 2:11 AM
A: routines! Laín rides a horse that they (obviously) care deeply for—feeding, watering, grooming, etcetera. before [REDACTED] Zel did daily sword training, but has now replaced that with writing practice for spoiler reasons. and Tapputi goes foraging as often as she can

#DecemberWorldbuilders
#DecemberWorldbuilders. What tasks does your MC (or another important character) have to do on a regular basis? Do they have a house to keep clean? Adventuring gear to upkeep? Animals to care for? Or, perhaps they have other people to do all that work for them?
December 18, 2025 at 11:33 AM
A: Masede can weave due to her status (almost all elite women create textiles). Laín knows armour repair and clothes mending because their people are known for intricately smithed suits of armour and have a culture of independence that makes these homemaking skills necessary

#DecemberWorldbuilders
Greetings, #DecemberWorldbuilders. This week we're talking about the routine chores our characters do. In your setting, who makes or repairs clothes/armor? Do you have tailors or blacksmiths? Have any of your main characters had to learn any of these skills?
December 17, 2025 at 6:06 PM
A: since most of Ešurassun is desert, keeping on top of food production is vital for basic survival. around the temples and cities, farming is the main form of food-related labour; on Kaftoares, it's fishing; and in the mountainous plains region hunter-gathering reigns

#DecemberWorldbuilders
#DecemberWorldbuilders, what food-related chores do your characters do? Are any of them farmers, fishers, cooks, gatherers? Do they do the bare minimum they need while on an adventure? Or do they have other people to cook for them?
December 17, 2025 at 5:44 PM
A: what an unconventional prompt! okay, so everyone who lives in a temple does chores from sunrise to sunset (ie. collecting clay, preparing offerings, cleaning tombs). and due to Ešurassun's desert climate, sweeping sand is THE most commonly performed chore everywhere

#DecemberWorldbuilders
Hey there, #DecemberWorldbuilders! This week is devoted to more mundane worldbuilding: chores. This week, I'll ask how your worldbuilding affects the normal everyday lives of your characters. Today: how does the environment /climate affect their daily lives? What tasks to they perform?
