Make sure your pitch could be told around a campfire. I've seen a lot of writers explain what their pilot is, instead of telling a story and making the producer / buyer experience what the pilot and show will be. You gotta get their heads AND hearts.

Hey, get that flu shot. Knowing folks who are catching this current flu and it's kicking them in the teeth -- the shot will, worst case scenario, prevent it from taking you to the hospital or the morgue. It might knock it out quicker for you or even help you duck catching it. (Mask up, too.)
