I think we need to be cautious (myself included) on how talk about vaccine preventable illnesses causing disabilities. Disabled people are harmed when we talk about disability being a terrible outcome. Additionally, many amazing disability activists who changed history are survivors of polio.

Oh look. When you fight instead of capitulating, you can have your funding restored.
JUST IN: Harvard won summary judgment against the Trump administration with the court finding that the admin violated Harvard's 1st amend. rights. The court has vacated the funding freeze orders and termination letters and issued a permanent injunction.

I will give credit to groups like ACLU and Disability Rights California for being vocal about what has already happened in California who then justifiably are mad now.

America is in a giant prisoner’s dilemma. Except instead of not trusting others not to talk, we don’t trust each other to actually stand up to fascism.

It’s not an accident. They want us to fear each other. Don’t give into the doubt.

We all win when we all stand up to fascists.

Dems are fascists too.

Making it easier to involuntarily commit people is a canary in the coal mine for other deprivations of liberty.

Disability activists have been screaming about this for years!
According to Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, Gov. Hochul has four main priorities she's pushing for in budget talks:
- Mask ban
- Discovery reform changes
- Involuntary commitment
- Bell to bell cellphone ban in schools

Nothing prevents you from calling fascists fascists. If the threat is real, then you can either congratulate or ignore the people who figured it out before you did, but it’s time to stop scolding them.
I am not blaming Democrats for Republicans becoming fascists. I am blaming people who overused "fascist" for years for removing the power of that word and gutting it of meaning, and making it useless now that we need it.
Something I warned would happen.

The Department of Justice was created in 1870 with an explicit mission to protect civil rights and enforce the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments.

The DOJ went after the Klan hard, securing thousands of indictments and 600+ convictions within the first year alone.

How about restoring *that* focus?
Leavitt: "We want to restore the Department of Justice to an institution that focuses on fighting law and order."

Cool so what happens if GOP attach a national abortion ban to a CR? You'll vote for that too?

🚮
My YES vote is *not* an endorsement of this deeply flawed CR.

My YES vote is 💯 about refusing to shut our government down.

I refuse to punish working families and plunge millions of Americans into chaos.

I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever vote to shut our government down.

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House.

We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication.

They own what happens next.
