This is perfect. The DOJ's embarrassing snafu with disappearing redactions was the fault of Elon Musk. Musk cancelled government subscriptions to Adobe programs that would have made the redactions permanent. What a pack of fools.

Irving Berlin was a Jew born in Russia, (probably Siberia) and his early life there was defined by trauma and religious persecution. When he was five, his family home was burned to the ground in a violent pogrom.

Many of us are exhausted having worked to learn the truth of our own history on our own, but also having to learn the history of American white people that most white ppl refuse to learn.

Look at what happened with Johnny Cash's first wife, who was 1/2 Sicilian and many Southerners thought she was mixed race. He had to publicly denounce the claims to save his career (ironically both he and his wife had Black ancestors, but not through her Italian side).

Southern Italians in particular were targeted. Given "intelligence" tests showing pictures of things they had never seen before and then when they didn't know what they were, could be deemed "inferior." And please let's not forget the Chinese! The laws passed in the early 20th century were terrible.

A lot of MAGA with Italian, Polish, Hungarian, Greek and Armenian roots have no clue of America’s history with those groups and they seem to want to stay ignorant, just as they do with the stories of the African, Asian and North American tribes that were denied the “American Dream”.

Imagine my surprise when I learned that Mexico rebelled from Spain because the Mexicans, among other reasons, wanted to free slaves. In turn, Texas fought Mexico to keep slavery (among other reasons as well).
They never covered the slavery part in my Texas History class in junior high.

A lot of white people know this history, but they don't understand it. They think one generation of their Italian/Polish/Irish/etc. ancestors experiencing bigotry equals the historical oppression of Black and Indigenous people. They don't realize that the definition of "white" just became broader.
