Why bother extending the 5p cut at all? Just get rid of it now.

In the past the OBR has assumed that fuel duty would start to rise after a one-year freeze.

This strikes at the heart of Labour’s problem. Two budgets in a row now of tinkering around the edges to raise just enough to get by until the next budget, all while constraining growth in the process, which is the *only* thing that’s going to ultimately break the cycle.
Damning line from the OBR this: "We have assessed that none of the policy measures in this Budget have a sufficiently material impact to justify adjusting our post-measures potential output forecast."
Ie it's a budget which does nothing new for growth.

I know it gets said a lot on here, but it’s extraordinarily alarming how many MPs on the right are so deeply consumed by what they see on Twitter that they genuinely believe it is an accurate window into society at large when it’s actually just a window into insanity and bigotry.
This is just utter nonsense. There is no strict canon or continuity in the Bond series — that’s basically the entire point and why it has endured for 60+ years.
