I think in general I have a fairly high “politician forgiveness” threshold because I understand they face a firehose of shit everyday and also in a democracy they have to comprise all the time, but Simon Harris not standing up for immigrants in this moment feels like one that crosses that threshold

14 years the British Labour party spent dreaming of power! Was this their dream, to pour bile on migrants and trans folk and mimic the monsters they replaced. Is it for this activists walked door to door, filled envelopes, sat in stuffy council chambers instead of enjoying the evening light.

It turned out the UK Labour Party has asshole views on migrations as well as on gender identity.

I hope the response to all this will be to get rid of single gender toilets.

At least the pope is in an open coffin; I was shocked to learn the English were making such a massive fuss about walking past a closed box.

I think it’s fine to bully people for reading Harry Potter in 2025 actually

If you want to read your old Harry Potter books, you should do it in secret and shamefully - you know, in the way that J.K. Rowling wants to force trans people to live.

I see the discovery of chemical correlates of life on another planet has slipped below Monty fucking Don's dog on the BBC news.

It is so disturbing to see these pictures of people outside the court happy and pompously pleased with themselves for doing something that makes no material improvement to anyone's lives and makes the lives of some so so much worse.

An emotion exquisite since so faint and pure is the regret that you'll never meet the person, doubtless now dead, whose choice of books, name and date inside the cover and now on sale in Oxfam, suggest they were once a kindred soul.

I am sorry for all our troubles today, those we share and those particular to our selves or our locations.

In the case of those making the news, the common thread is institutions empowered to harm individuals will eventually do so.

This seems like a significant problem now and later.

"If they raised the Mary Rose, why not raise the Titanic?"

Man, our institutions need to form an "alert circle"
WATCH: Elephants at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park react to Monday's 5.2 magnitude earthquake that shook San Diego County. The elephants formed an "alert circle" meant to protect the young and the entire herd from any threats, according to the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance.

aphantasics reported to feel less 'absorbed' as they read stories, but they dwelled just as much on words that typically evoke imagery. so perhaps they just didn't realize they have (non-conscious) imagery too
