Salt -- and I can't stress this enough -- your pasta water aggressively. I'm talking a HANDFUL of kosher salt. It should taste like the sea. Your baseline happiness will improve

I can be a very practical and empirical person much of the time, and David Lynch was one of those creators who was able to make me stop for a moment, look in the face of reality's endless absurdity, and just shrug, and say, "why the hell not?"
January 16, 2026 at 6:51 PM
This is exactly the feeling EXACTLY

I routinely think about him in small little ways, trying to summon some of that pure creator energy

David Lynch passed a year ago today. I hope we all can absorb just a little bit of the energy he put out in his lifetime.

Adding cinnamon and a little chili powder to hot chocolate is an absolute game changer. It took me till way too late in life to start doing it

Also try:

Chocolate syrup
Maple syrup
A cinnamon stick

Your life could be slightly better if you occasionally put hot chocolate mix in your coffee

Empathy is imagining what it would feel like to be that person. It is not the same as sympathy. "Asking me to be nice to bad people!!" is another accusation I've got very little patience for nowadays
January 9, 2026 at 10:23 PM
I'm saying, accuse me of apathy and I won't tolerate it. I'll ask firmly, then I'll disconnect. If you know me that poorly maybe we're better apart

This hasn't happened yet. But I was on Twitter long enough to know it's not unlikely in the days ahead.

You don't know people's struggles. Empathy.

Wait what happened? This is why I can't step away from this thing too long

Listen, I'm in my cave trying to live through all of this with my mental health intact, but don't even think of saying I don't care
January 9, 2026 at 10:17 PM
I identify with all of this hooooo boy
January 9, 2026 at 10:14 PM
I try to live somewhere BETWEEN "this is all ok" and "burn everything down and get rid of everyone" but hey maybe I'm the one who's wrong

Every character is privy to so much lore I don't know, and they act in ways formed by that knowledge. I get snippets, often just little idioms they say or an off-hand comment. I get to put it together and get that satisfying moment when two puzzle pieces go together and you feel that *click*
January 8, 2026 at 6:09 PM
So far I'm loving Moonhaven. Two episodes left. One thing they're doing very right (I think) is that I feel far from spoon-fed. I end every episode and most scenes going "wait what??"

It's not REQUIRED for good entertainment, but it's delightful IF the world is one you like returning to

Yeah, lots and lots of hours spent on those. And I had SimIsle for PC. It was a whole era
