The character WANTS to reach that point where no memories are left, "the end of himself". So I wanna have arguments for and against, dangers of that path, possible benefits of it apart from curiosity being sated, etc. The world needs to react to his motivations so I need to, like, have a FEW answers

My thoughts currently are actually just questions, namely:

What's in the place where the memories go?
Why does it take memories?
Does it just want his memories or does it want as many memories as it can get?
If it's just him, why?
What APART from memories makes us who we are?

Clearly to lose all of them at some point they'd have to go into seclusion in a sensory deprivation situation and just cast spells until every memory is gone. And the memory of casting a spell and losing a memory would just repeat. But what might that person be or become?
