How *not* to alleviate the housing shortage: tax cabinets. Kitchens & bathrooms are already some of the largest cost drivers for housing prices. Renovations have a big multiplier effect on local jobs.

I can't believe there's still no development at Sunset TC. Gov't should buy the land or tax it heavily to get a new neighborhood at that location. It's incredibly transit accessible, not just MAX, lots of buses @trimet.org

Trump's latest round of tariffs will raise the average American's taxes by $4,700 - while he cuts taxes for billionaires. Poor people and immigrants who rely on imported groceries will be hit hardest. Import taxes are not progressive and should be condemned by all supporters of economic justice.

We should tax land higher than buildings, but failing that, we should at least not mandate one of the lowest value land uses.
The burden is already on taxpayers. When we force unnecessary parking to be built we add functionally nothing to the tax assessed value of new development and induce more traffic that taxpayers pay for via increased road maintenance costs (and many soft costs.) We lower revenue and increase costs.
