this is why I think Matt Yglesias’ stance that we shouldn’t talk about anything other than healthcare is insane

the average American doesn’t yet realize that Trump has created a Gestapo. Democrats need to talk about it and raise awareness of videos like this rather than just ignore it.
Here’s a disturbing video from Evanston of a federal agent hitting a man on the ground as people yell that he can’t breathe.

It was an Issue on which serious people were expected to have opinions.

Over and over again we’ve seen the media refuse to create Issues out of anything related to right-wing radicalization. If they get any mention, they’re in stories about ‘polarization,’ a misstatement of the actual problem.

Federal agents raided Family Night at La Catedral Arena in Wilder, Idaho. A community racetrack packed with families, food, and music. They came under the guise of “illegal betting.” What they unleashed was terror: children zip-tied, parents separated, and chaos erupting across a crowd of 1,000.

Trump's federal agents shot Marimar Martinez, a US citizen, multiple times for allegedly menacing them with her car in Chicago. Only hours later, Kristi Noem and DHS started spreading disinformation about the shooting.

Now the official line is crumbling. 1/

Justice Brett Kavanaugh: “If the officers learn that the individual they stopped is a U.S. citizen...they promptly let the individual go."

The reality: Americans have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents.

A must read from the very talented @nicolefoy.bsky.social:
More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days.
The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...

What people cannot seem to get through their heads is that the justifications the Trump administration uses to attack higher education is a *pretext* not the actual reason. There is no reasonable permanent compromise available, because their actual goal is control.
Danielle Allen fails the Lando test / lives out the Arrested Development meme: "A deal on the core principles in a compact could then become a framework for negotiating on legislation." Come ON. With this administration and this Congress?

What DHS pulled in Chicago on Tuesday is wildly unconstitutional. They smashed down almost every door in the building, dragged entire families into the street, and detained people for hours ("Kavanaugh stops").

Ms. Fisher was held for five hours and another senior citizen was held for three hours.
