No ethical consumption under capitalism and personal boycotts are to make the individual feel better. Only organized boycott movements (BDS) make sense, arguing over individual preferences is a waste of all of our time.

Fwiw several people whose grandparents fled the holocaust to come to the USA made this exact comparison to me in Minnesota last week, saying this was what their grandparents told them about. The difference is that people in Minnesota have their neighbors’ backs.
my grandmother, an Auschwitz survivor, was Anne Frank’s neighbor in Amsterdam, and Oma thinks this comparison is perfectly apt
