Jesse Brown trying to paint Selina Robinson's departure from politics as rooted in antisemitism is remarkable. Robinson was forced to leave politics because she said Palestine "was a crappy piece of land with nothing on it."

The reaction to the Mamdani win is yet another example of the imperial boomerang: NYC is about to find out what countries like Cuba and Guatamala found out years ago.

In no way can you say that giving the US millions for their fantasy air defense system is a "push away" from the US, not to mention the millions that will be spent on US-made weapons manufacturing.

"This plan includes a cash increase of over $9 billion ($8.3 billion on an accrual basis) in defence investment this fiscal year (2025-26), bringing Canada’s defence spending to 2% of gross domestic product."

NEW: Whether you measure it by number of supporters, fundraising ability, or by the size of its militant groups, the white nationalist movement in Canada has never been larger or more of a threat.

"Canadians are not embracing any talk of “austerity,” and if needed, a majority — nearly 60 per cent — says Ottawa should hike taxes on wealthier Canadians if new spending is needed."

Hey this is really bad and it'd be really great to have a leader of our country who would, I don't know, refuse the invitations of a fascist state to participate in their military programs but what do I know

Just over 100 days in and I'm more certain of this take than ever
Mark Carney isn't Kamala Harris; he's Joe Biden. And while he has the best chance to beat the Conservatives, as Biden did, where did that leave us?

This is a genuine question for someone who knows more about economics than I do:

I accept that Trump's tariffs are going to hurt Americans.

Won't Canadian tariffs hurt Canadians, on top of being hurt by American tariffs? What's the logic (other than protecting Canadian business interests)?

if trump's tariffs are going to be so bad for americans why is canada's response "we'll put tariffs on them!"?
isn't that just an admission that our government is willing to let people suffer for the sake of free trade?

it's so clear that the tariffs are just a bullying tactic and that the trump team knows how devastating they would be in the face of a rising alternative economy (BRICS) so maybe we can actually focus on other things instead of dedicating an absentee government's time to them
