Unsurprising. I read these articles and they came across to me like Cohan was trying to drive the bonds to zero just to prove that he can. His coverage of Musk's X buy was also weird; he kept claiming X would run out of money when it was obvious Musk would just put more in nypost.com/2025/10/08/b...

Might try watching the next 10 ep season of something as 20 half hour episodes, with a major cliffhanger every second week
Bring back 20-24 episode seasons of TV.

I’ve been frustrated to see so much of the ongoing story about asylum seekers and the protests against them covered without hearing from those seeking asylum and now being met with hostility and hatred

I set out to speak to those directly affected to find out about the impact this is having 👇
We escaped war and torture but now we feel unsafe in Britain
Special report: Amid protests and rising aggression towards asylum seekers across the country, we spoke to those being targeted

New rivers of blood quote just dropped

(definite improvement on the previous one)
If you want an authentic Sagan quote, there are many to choose from, and we can do a lot worse than “Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot”

I keep desperately trying to figure out if there’s a strategy or a rationale for all this, or even a reason to hope things might get better. The straw I’m clutching at today is: people talking so much about migration now that they’ll be bored and other issues will be salient in 4 years. If only.
Really interesting that support for *all* left-of-centre parties dropped as salience of immigration rose after "island of strangers" speech - our exclusive:
It’s official – Keir Starmer’s “island of strangers” speech has backfired
Exclusive: the first survey before and after the immigration speech reveals a drop in Labour support.

V. interesting. The "island of strangers" speech happened serendipitously (in one sense) during a panel survey. Paper uses this natural experiment to see the effect of such migrant-sceptic interventions on individual perceptions and voter intentions.

Upshot: it harmed Labour for no obvious benefit.
Using a triple-differences model, we show that the biggest negative effect of turning right was among the party’s own supporters

Q: What is Bluesky’s business model?

A: Bluesky doesn’t need a business model. It was founded by the billionaire Bluford Skynard. He filled this site with slightly problematic posts as a riddle. Whoever replies to each one with a minor quibble will solve the puzzle and inherit his fortune

What’s got a better ring to it, Taliban Nigel or Taliban Farage?
With Reform UK saying it would be reasonable to pay the Taliban to return migrants to Afghanistan, how many Britons this would be acceptable?

Acceptable: 17%
Unacceptable: 61%

% acceptable by party
Reform: 35%
Con: 23%
Lab/Lib Dem: 7-13%

Vertical for the key 16-29 voter demographic, horizontal for 0-15 and 30+
