I just walked out of federal court where I pleaded NOT GUILTY to the charges against me.

I will continue to stand up to authoritarianism and call this out for what it is: a political prosecution.

Today has been a really struggling with low energy day and I'm musing about what happened to cause this dip in my always kinda difficult energy levels.

Then I remember I got Shingles about 18 months ago...

Really recommend learning about the early signs of Shingles. It's brutal if it takes hold.

Carved in Stone is officially out!

In this comprehensive setting guide you'll be able to see, touch, taste, hear and smell your way through everything that modern-day scholars currently know of the enigmatic culture of the Picts, from the perspective of someone living in the late 7th Century.

Nigel Farage is already observing a boycott of the BBC that began in Aug 2013.

And another from May 2019.

And another from May 2024. And June 2024. And July 2024. Busy year for boycotts!

And one from July 2025.

But this time, I'm sure he's telling the truth.

In all seriousness...

Why not just have Craig's Bond be the person the codename was named after?

Like.. his stint already clearly implied that he's the "first" James Bond. (Though not the first 007.)

Just have the Name get stuck to the number as a rememberance thing?

Something I think that is rather key to understanding a lot of things right now in the UK discourse:

People often have never been taught or have some to an understanding of the major difference between concept and execution.

This is also a game design post.
Our political and pundit class is so incapable or unwilling to ever actually make any arguments as to why something is good.

So many people in the country have been taught to think that if there's criticisms of something the only recourse is to destroy it.

It's toxic.

The eternal struggle with rules discourse is trying to get a majority of people to understand rules are the medium. Rules. Are. The. Medium.

We are an artform where we're still discussing if a movie needs to be a series of sequential images.

Not that anyone will learn a single thing from this, but let it serve as yet another example of the futility of trying to appease right-wing extremists. No matter how much you try to meet them halfway, they will still paint you as insufficiently servile to their ideology.

I've noted it a lot, I will doubtlessly note it again, how weird it is that the TRPG hobby specifically devotes so much discourse to trying to distance itself from the actual "game" part of the acronym
Game mechanics aren't that special.

There is nothing inherently better about rolling 2d6 vs a d12, rolling over or under a stat for a skill check, or using tokens.

The special part is when you, the designer, noticing how a particular mechanic lets you share a part of the human experience

What are your favorite RECENT* indie ttrpgs I should read?

*like 2022 to now, leaning toward now.

I kinda want to be sold on solo RPGs but it sounds weird so I kinda need a pitch that isn’t “okay so it’s a community creative writing 101 writing prompt…” That’s not a game for me. I’m an author.

You know, something that I'd love to get into is consultancy on Larp rules/design.

I mean I'd also love to do consultancy on ttrpg rules and design too, but I feel its a much more packed field.

Reminder!!

Bluesky has a pronoun labeler you should really use!

Only those who subscribe to this will see it so you should do that. Don't worry, that's all it does.
Instructions are in the bio/first post.

Urrrgh trying to pin down some sort of visual style for a game and being torn between like 3 different directions and not really vibing with any of them.
