Welp, it's #OnePlaceWednesday and I'm about to start my digital conspiracy board to attempt to connect all 200 individuals in the Mount Gilead cemetery. It's either going to be amazing when it's finished or I'm going to lose my mind working on it. Small chance that it ends up being both.

re: generative AI

I have finally fully and accurately explained my problem with how it’s marketed and used.

And now, you can use it, too.

I considered writing a long carefully constructed argument laying out the harms and limitations of AI, but instead I wrote about being a hater. Only humans can be haters.
I Am An AI Hater
I am an AI hater. This is considered rude, but I do not care, because I am a hater.

FUTURE ARCHEOLOGIST: This curious artifact was widespread in the early 21st Century and could be found in most middle-class dwellings. No one knows exactly what it was, but it was clearly a revered object…every example we've found is pristine, as though only used once or twice.

At a craft fair, I was working a booth right next to the live music. I sneezed so loud one of the musicians thought there was a problem with static on their amp.
Once again it is Father’s Day, which means it’s time to share the most Dad* thing you did in the last year. As is custom, I will go first:

Watching YouTube videos for small repair jobs around the house has turned into watching YouTube videos for large repair jobs I cannot and should not attempt.

Yup. I continue to say that AI is for those who fetishize THE IDEA and dismiss THE WORK. It's for those people who come up to writers and say, "I got a great idea for a book, I'll give it to you, you write it, and we'll split the profits 50/50," as if the idea is the hardest and most important part.
I saw someone say AI is useful because it generates ideas. My dude, I'm full of ideas. I have docs and docs marked under 'ideas.' I have outlines and fragments of stuff I might work on. Trunked stories galore. Even if I continue to write a novel a year for the next 40 years I won't run out of ideas.

Finally had the time to watch this, and it might be the perfect fusion of board games, intellectual property, and genealogy. No lies, it hit every button in my brain.
It's the weekend, which makes it a perfect time to catch up on my latest! In this one, I take you through a year spent in search of the names of some uncredited game designers.

Two breakthroughs in my Mount Gilead #oneplacestudy today!

1) Got my @wikitree.bsky.social space made: www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:M...

2) Found the full source citations for documents where I previously only had surnames and page numbers without the actual title of the work. Now I can really dig!
