Since the start of von der Leyen's second mandate, EU sustainable finance norms face intense dismantling pressures. My new @JEPP article shows this started years ago when the fossil fuel industry “woke up” to the EU Taxonomy. 🧵 #EUTaxonomy #SustainableFinance👇 1/10

Seeing your (old by now) book (the tiny green one, bottom right the monetary section) on the shelves of someone else, when randomly scrolling bluesky and without knowing how it ended there, is a joy that never gets old and worth to share. Great collection by the way @claudia-sahm.bsky.social
My monetary (left) and fiscal (right) sections are intentionally eclectic.

My own hyp is about history of social movement. DEI gained in importance when/with/because wave of social revendications (feminism, lgbtq+) and associated cause entrepreneurs. At the same time, marxism/class ideas and entrpreneurs were fading away. Aca DEI guidelines are outcome of borh dynamics

Corridors rumors i heard about: class background is "too political" in rhe sense left/right (but why not other dei features?) and non visible so less easy to demonstrate (again, why not some of the other dei features then?).Plus us influence: in europe dei guidelines are oft copy pasted from us unis
January 28, 2026 at 6:49 PM
This enraged me for so many years...when DEI guidelines exist in Europe for aca recruitements, they also never mention class/social background elements
Why are we interested in class at all?

Orgs almost never think about socioeconomic background background when they think about diversity or inclusion...

This chart shows 600 large US firms' DEI goals/reporting in Sep 2024. Almost none mention socioeconomic background. (2/22)

The Class Gap in Career Progression: Evidence from US Academia

Class is rarely a focus of research or DEI in elite US occupations.

Evidence suggests it should be: we find a large class gap in at least one occupation - tenure-track academia...🧵

If the EU didnt manage to seize Russian assets frozen within Euroclear accounts, can it overcome coordination (and other) problems to sell 12,6 trillions of dollars of US assets owned by a myriad of private financial operators? Answer is no. Never too late to start though www.ft.com/content/beea...

I'm don't think we should get too excited about this. Eurodollar structure is dollar assets funded by dollar liabilities. If Europe moves to dump dollar assets it's left with ... large dollar liabilities. Not a great position to be in, particularly if access to dollar swap lines is questionable.

Within the next decade the radical right is going to be the main force on the right in Europe (national and EU level). This includes far-right parties and formerly centre-right parties shifting their position. Moderate conservatism and Christian democracy will largely disappear on the right. 1/
