I can’t emphasize enough how much accessibility benefits everyone. Ramps, elevators, ventilated air, automatic doors. You caring about accessibility is literally caring about your future. You will become disabled unless you die young. Investing in the disability community is investing in yourself.

People with glasses and contacts have to realize that we have a disability that just happens to be highly accommodated for in modern society and that accommodation is the only reason why poor eyesight is not considered a disability.

The content I needed this morning
This is Ramsey and Rebel. Ramsey can be a little needy sometimes. But Rebel doesn't mind because Ramsey’s needs are very cozy. 13/10 for both

My children have no option but Medicaid—private insurance won’t cover their therapies or services. Cutting Medicaid doesn’t just take away opportunities; for many kids like mine, it threatens their progress, their health, and their actual lives. #ProtectMedicaid #HandsOffOurMedicaid #MOMSky

Also because if you don’t include disabled people now, you won’t understand how to create a world that works for everyone when it’s time to rebuild
Include disabled people in your resistance planning. In many ways we’re built for resistance, as we have to find creative and sustainable ways to survive every single day.

This is the time for intersectionality and community care. We need to work together and save one another.

Fred says "We don't wait for our friends to ask for help, we seek our friends where they rest and comfort them there. Nurturing love doesn't need an occasion or request, we can simply show up and provide it." Or maybe he's just snuggling with the twins, I'm not a cat expert. #catsofbluesky

I didn’t realize that funding for Developmental Disability Councils is at risk. Among other important work, Florida’s DDC runs our state Partners in Policymaking program, which teaches disabled people and their family members to know their rights and advocate for them. It literally changed my life.
AAPD put together an explainer on the federal funding freeze. While the explainer goes into more detail, what we know can be said in one sentence: Lots of critical programs are impacted by this freeze, & within its first day, this action has already caused serious harm.

Some thoughts about living in crisis mode for long periods of time, from someone who's done that in her personal life and is in a career that mostly operates there. Even if it's hard, you need to find ways to ground and take care of yourself or you WILL burn out and you WILL crash out. (thread)

I guess I'm too woke because I find the proliferation of this really off-putting and gross. The fact that it's now reached the "enlightened centrists" class is depressing.
