Can't believe it's taken this long, or that the industry didn't do this voluntarily, but glad to see this is finally happening!

If companies like Microsoft *actually* solved all your productivity problems, how would they get you to keep spending money on more new things to solve your productivity problems? 🙃
if microsoft just made outlook search not suck they'd see triple the productivity gains of any AI integration

Is it normal that an app that shut down like 8 years ago is able to restore a database of 100k user-uploaded videos? 🤔
Vine reboot called diVine has been launched 📱

• Funded by Jack Dorsey
• Includes over 100K videos from Vine's archive
• Users can upload 6-second videos
• AI-generated content is not allowed

These electric scooters in my city are a lot like gen AI:

A scourge on society, and everyone who uses them is an asshole, a menace, and a moron

…until I want to use them, and then of course they’re brilliant and great and super useful and one of the best inventions in years 😂

Yes and yet several European countries are embracing a far-right worldview that would burn these policies to the ground, so let’s be not be smug or complacent here - particularly as Mamdani‘s pro-immigration stance is radical by European standards.
Europeans recognize Zohran Mamdani’s supposedly radical policies as ‘normal’ -- Critics of New York City’s mayor-elect have said his pledges of free bus service and universal childcare are unrealistic, but in Europe it’s a given www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Everyone’s gleefully awaiting the AI bubble burst, but a) bubbles have no relation to the usefulness of something (dot com and housing bubbles didn’t exactly spell the end of the internet and housing) and b) the AI burst is gonna screw over waaay more people than just those in the AI industry.
Breaking news: US stocks have dropped as jitters over highly elevated valuations for many artificial intelligence companies intensified and top Wall Street executives said markets were vulnerable to a pullback. on.ft.com/4hIMmhj

Every week for about 3 years now Slack has been sending me summary emails stating that my monday-to-friday company sends all our messages tuesday-saturday 🙃

I've reported this to them multiple times, but nobody there seems to care.

It’s super depressing that Facebook metrics are obviously showing them that AI generated content generates engagement. I cannot comprehend who wants that stuff.

I don't buy the AI narrative around prosperity for all. There is plenty of money to go around yet it tends to flow to the top. I can't imagine a world where those in control of AI, assuming it actually works, will resist charging an ever increasing subscription fee cementing the haves and have nots.

Apple would rather disable app tracking prevention in Europe entirely than to have to conform to the rules in its own apps that it imposes on third party developers.

And then it tries to blame regulators and lobbyists for the situation.

At every turn, Apple is determined to prove that it's a […]

YouTube rolled out their redesign using Liquid-Glass-style floating pill elements instead of toolbars, so now, naturally, you can't fling your mouse into the corner of the fullscreen window to hit the un-fullscreen button anymore. Don't you just love how Apple design drives the wider industry? 😛

How you behave on public transport describes your entire character. Push on the train before other people get off? That's because you're utterly incapable of considering anyone but yourself.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

It's quite difficult to talk realistically about AI because social media is full of people who say it's all powerful and can do anything and also people who say it's totally useless and both groups are hyperbolically wrong but very noisy.

I actually think that simultaneously making Apple TV the device, Apple TV the app and Apple TV the service is vastly more insane than companies that call their products obscure names like “AX469C”
Apple TV+ Being Rebranded as Apple TV
Apple TV+ Being Rebranded as Apple TV
Buried in its announcement about "F1: The Movie" making its streaming debut on December 12, Apple has also announced that Apple TV+ is being rebranded as simply ‌Apple TV‌. A single line near the end of the press release states "‌Apple TV‌+ is now simply ‌Apple TV‌, with a vibrant new identity," though Apple's website has yet to be updated with any changes, so we're unsure on the details of the new identity. Apple's blurb about the streaming service at the bottom of the press release also reflects the updated naming.Apple TV is available on the Apple TV app in over 100 countries and regions, on over 1 billion screens, including iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Apple Vision Pro, Mac, popular smart TVs from Samsung, LG, Sony, VIZIO, TCL and others, Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices, Chromecast with Google TV, PlayStation and Xbox gaming consoles, and at tv.apple.com, for $12.99 per month with a seven-day free trial for new subscribers. For a limited time, customers who purchase and activate a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV or Mac can enjoy three months of Apple TV for free.Apple of course offers its set-top box hardware under the ‌Apple TV‌ name while also offering the ‌Apple TV‌ app across various platforms as a hub for ‌Apple TV‌+ and other content. As a result, offering Apple's streaming service itself under the same name may lead to some confusion, and the reason for the change is unclear.
