Really wanted to like the book Shop Class as Soulcraft but it’s stealthily laced with a sort of toxic individualism and conservative “shakes-fist-at-modernity” attitude that is off-putting.

I did not grow up during the prime Hulk Hogan era so admittedly don't have an emotional connection I'm sure others have, but I'm still struggling with the outpouring of grief for this kinda shitty person
Hulk Hogan ratted out other wrestlers attempting to unionize to save his own position and paycheck above anyone else's & gladly accepted funding from Peter Thiel for his Gawker court case that paved frequently abused legal precedents for the rich to shut down any media outlets that embarrass them.

Almost twice as many people ride the New York City bus every day as live in Wyoming.

The bus should have two senators
The Senators that voted 'yes' on this disastrous bill represent more than 30 million FEWER Americans than the Senators that voted 'no.'

It is hardly the Great Problem of Our Time, but the fact that International Driving Permits are not the same size as passports still feels like a tragedy

My nuanced take is that LLMs are a conceptually compelling and interesting technology, but most instances and applications of LLMs are ethically dubious and/or philosophically fraught.

I'm currently reading John le Carré's novels and I just realised that my mental picture of George Smiley is in fact @pmarber.bsky.social as Peter O'Hanraha-Hanrahan from The Day Today.

[Editor's Note: I recognise that this post will make sense to maybe two people, and I am okay with that]
