A cautionary seasonal tale - wife sees advert for shoes on FB. Wrong size & damaged pair arrives. Tries return but told they must be sent (within 30 days) to China (despite return address given on website in NL)

“Montford” is the name.

Juries are not perfect.

Many of the worst miscarriages of justice have followed jury trials.

But the merit of juries is not so much the power they have, but the power they prevent others from having.

They mean a judge cannot just nod-along with prosecution evidence and give a guilty verdict.

FINALLY! The definition of US politics that explains everything
the american electoral system is basically 500,000 information-resistant people across a handful of states taking a guess and then going "haha! oops!" every two years. this process takes 18 months and costs four trillion dollars every time

True story this. Went to the funeral yesterday for a guy who played the dame every year in the local panto.

The vicar stood in front of the coffin and asked where he was and we all shouted 'he's behind you.' A lovely moment.

Happy 97th birthday Tom Lehrer 🎂

Today, I'll be celebrating the birthday of the greatest musical satirist of the last hundred years. Born in Manhattan in 1928, Lehrer was a mathematician who wrote comedy and satirical songs, and became an international celebrity in the late 50s and early 60s. /1

Setting tariffs is not some presidential power set out in US constitution.

Congress has delegated this power to Trump, and Congress can take it back.

This ultimately is about Congressional weakness as about Presidential madness.

This problem has a constitutional solution, if Congress wants it.
